The Gatekeeper’s Cottage is named in honor of the original gatekeeper of the historic Natchez City Cemetery, which is located mere feet from the property’s front door. The cemetery was established in 1822 and covers approximately 100 acres of land. Offering beautifully designed tombstones and monuments, many of the builders of the notable antebellum homes of Natchez are buried here.
